Senior Care

LIVE-IT’s program MyRide Sevier County is designed to provide Sevier County seniors, 60 years and older, with much needed transportation. Rides to doctor appointments, pharmacies, or grocery stores can help them maintain their independence, enabling them to lead a healthier, more productive life and therefore a happier one.
It is a volunteer-based service that utilizes advanced internet software to schedule, track, maintain, and manage common destinations and repeat riders. Volunteers are provided internet access to all scheduled riders and the ability to choose a convenient time. Volunteer drivers can even schedule to have a senior’s ride coincide with one they were already planning for themselves. The ease and flexibility of the program make it a great fit for both senior citizen riders and volunteer drivers alike!
People all over the county no longer have transportation for one reason or another. There are also people all over the county who want to help others but don’t know how. The goal of our program is to bring these two together!

NursingHomesAbuse.org

Abuse of senior citizens in nursing homes and assisted living facilities is widespread and often goes unreported. NursingHomesAbuse.org exists to inform families about the risks of nursing home abuse, and helps people take legal action if a loved one has been injured.

Approximately one in three people in the United States between the ages of 65 and 74 has hearing loss, and nearly half of those older than 75 have difficulty hearing. Unfortunately, many seniors who do not treat their hearing loss fail to do so simply because they believe they cannot afford a pair of hearing aids. The costs involved can be daunting, from audiologist appointments to fittings, to hearing aid and accessory purchases.
Caring.com has made it their mission to research and vet national and state resources that offer free/subsidized hearing aids designed to support seniors in communities across the U.S. to ensure safety and quality of everyday life.
